Rotterdam School of Management opens Asia office

RSM+logo+1jpgProfessor Steef van de Velde, Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), officially opened the school’s new Asia office in Taiwan during a special alumni reception on 15 October 2013. The event was attended by 43 guests including RSM alumni in Taiwan and representatives from Taiwanese and European organisations.

The reception was opened by Professor Steef van de Velde, who told guests that RSM has established its new Asia office with the ambition of strengthening its existing networks and potential relationships with businesses in Asia. “We want to intensify and enhance student recruitment, alumni relationships and business networks for RSM. Furthermore, we have a strong and supportive RSM alumni network in Asia – the best ambassadors who will promote RSM as a globally connected business school.”

Hans Fortuin, Director of the Netherlands Trade & Investment Office which promotes economic and cultural ties between the Netherlands and Taiwan, said: “RSM has a strong global network and can offer a huge potential to corporate partners, prospective students and alumni based in this dynamic region.”

Frédéric Laplanche, Director of the EU’s European Economic and Trade Office said he was very pleased that RSM has set up an office in Asia, which he thought would help in forging the mutually beneficial partnership between Taiwan and the Netherlands.

Professor Lily H. M. Chen, CEO of the Foundation for International Co-operation in Higher Education of Taiwan concluded “RSM has contributed to the general goals of positioning Dutch higher education in Taiwan for the benefit of both countries, and raising the profile and brand awareness of the Netherlands as a country of knowledge and excellent higher education.”

The new Asia Office is an important and exciting part of RSM’s on-going globalisation. This is a key step which will enable RSM to further strengthen its existing networks and potential relations in Asia. The region is one of the most dynamic regions in the world, and offers huge potential to international business schools like RSM as a favourable destination for corporate relations and student recruitment.

Dual Wu is Director of the new office. Prior to joining RSM in July 2013, he was Director of the Netherlands Education Support Office in Taipei. His goal is for the new Asia office to create a strong and well-managed network in Asia for RSM with support from partner organisations and RSM’s local alumni ambassadors in Asia.
