Seacon Logistics has started a rail service between Poland and the United Kingdom for a number of large shippers, via the port of Rotterdam. The Russian Fesco Transportation Group has started a regular weekly service between North America and Saint Petersburg via transhipment in the port of Rotterdam.
In New York, Norfolk and Charleston, Fesco books its containers on the Trans Atlantic Express Service (TAE) of the CKYH Green Alliance. They are transferred in the port of Rotterdam to ships from the joint services to Russia with the French shipping company CMA CGM. With this new service, the Russian shipping company aims mainly at the transport of cars, automotive parts, machines, chemicals and metal products, among other things.
The Poland/UK shippers (Colgate Palmolive, Mondelez International and Nestlé) established a joint platform, JIT, to reduce the CO2 emissions of the transport of their cargo by around 18 million tonnes CO2. Seacon Logistics combines the cargo flows and finds extra intermodal transport in a number of European corridors. It also takes care of the administration and customs clearance. The collaboration of the three shippers in JIT is also open to other shippers.
